"I know," the goddess said. "But Nereus chose him too."
"Are you rejecting my claim?"
"I'm not," she said. "We have a deal. You can take him and displace Nereus again, or you can choose another."
Death considered. Then, finally, "There are consequences to this, you know. It's going to hurt him."
